This program is managed by Hood River Valley Parks Recreation District

Who can sign up

Middle school students (6-8th grade) / All levels are welcome / Student must be well-behaved

About the program: Join us for an exciting winter journey with our Youth Nordic Ski Program! Designed for young skiers in middle school, this program offers an engaging introduction to the world of Nordic skiing. Participants will develop essential skills, build confidence, and foster a love for the outdoors while enjoying the beauty of winter.

Program Goals:

  1. Skill Development: Teach fundamental techniques in classic and skate skiing.

  2. Physical Fitness: Promote cardiovascular health, strength, and endurance.

  3. Teamwork and Camaraderie: Encourage teamwork through group activities and races.

  4. Outdoor Appreciation: Instill a respect for nature and an understanding of winter environments.

Tentative Dates: Feb 5th - March 12th / Days: Wednesdays / Time: Bus leaves after school and returns around 8:30 pm

Pickup Locations: Hood River Middle School WyEast Middle School / Destination: Teacup Lake Nordic Center

Transportation plan: Bus Company transports students and Volunteer Parents transport the ski equipment


IMPORTANT DATES


Early Bird Registration Opens: November 4th (5 PM)

Late Registration begins: December 20th (5 PM) / Add $50.00 Late fee

Registration Closes: Fri, Jan 10th (5 PM)

⚠️Mandatory Parent Meetings: Attendance is required in order for your child to participate

  1. Tuesday, Dec. 17th / 6- 7 pm / Location: Westside Elementary cafeteria 

  2. Monday, Jan. 13th / 6- 7 pm / Location: Westside Elementary cafeteria  

Tentative First Day of Skiing/Riding Wednesday, February 5th

Tentative Last Day of Skiing/Riding Wednesday, March 12th


EQUIPMENT LESSONS PASSES


Gear Equipment: these are the responsibility of each participant, but we will be providing some options for rentals and passes below from Pure Stoke and Dug’s Sports
 

Know how to ski and already have your Teacup Lake Nordic Center pass? Great! Register for the Hood River Youth Nordic Ski Program to take advantage of the transportation, coaching/supervision and ski with your friends and classmates!

Need a Teacup Lake Nordic pass?

Participants will receive a pass each session at no additional cost

Youth Nordic Ski Program Registration $309/student

Fee pays for round-trip transportation, coaching, and supervision

Register for the HRMS Pick-up Location

Register for the WyEast Middle School Pick-up Location

REFUNDS

  • We do not offer refunds for this program if there are cancellations due to inclement weather

  • If there are cancellations due to weather, we will make up a maximum of one session
