The first class is a mandatory student/adult orientation meeting. Student must attend with a parent or guardian. Mandatory meeting- October 7, 6:00-8:00 pm.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTINUING: Students MUST have a permit in order to register for this class.
This course counts as 50 of the 100 hours required for your teen to obtain their license.
You must have a permit to take this class, but there is no requirement as to how long you have to have it.
Driver test? What driver test?
There are a ton of great reasons to enroll in driver ed classes, but the best one is, if you complete the course, that means you don’t have to take the DMV driver test to get your license! That’s right – you’re essentially excused from one of teen life’s most nerve-wracking rites of passage!
Here’s how it works:
Before getting your drivers' license:
- You need to have had an instruction permit for at least 6 months.
- You enroll in and successfully complete an ODOT-approved driver ed course.
- You can certify that you have at least 50 hours of driving experience with a driver who is older than 21 and has had driving privileges for at least three years.
- You have to pass the written safe driving practices test at the DMV.
Upon completion of an ODOT-approved driver ed course, your provider will issue a card certifying that you successfully met all class requirements. When you present this card at the DMV while applying for a Provisional Driver License, the skills test is waived.
That’s it! No more sleepless nights, no more dudes with clipboards – just a shiny new license to drive. See you in class!
Registration and payment must be made through Community Education at the time of registration. This can be done on line at www.hrcommunityed.org Those without computer access may register 1011 Eugene Street. To register by phone, please have your credit card information available. Students registered for this program must not obtain their license prior to completing this program. Verification of eligibility may be performed prior to end of class.
If the student:
1) fails to complete the class, or
2) turns 18 years of age prior to completion, or
3) attains his/her driver license prior to class completion, they are no longer eligible for reimbursement and therefore an additional $210 will automatically be charged.
Course Non-Completion: If at the end of the course, a student has not completed all work in order to pass, a non-completion letter will be sent home explaining the reasons for the student not completing the course. The student will be given additional time to complete the necessary course work. If the class work has not been completed within the allotted time, the student will receive a failing grade. There are NO REFUNDS for this program.
Student must bring a photo copy of their permit to the first class for our office records. Behind the Wheel is scheduled outside of the classroom and will take longer than the last day of class. We recommend approximately 10 hours of driving practice prior to this course. Classes are scheduled to be offered in September, January, April & July, depending on enrollment and instructor availability.
